THE PARTS OF SPEECH
Traditional grammar classifies words based on eight parts of speech: the verb, the noun, the pronoun, the adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the conjunction, and the interjection.
Noun-A naming word (name of a person place animals things birds)
Examples of nouns = Vairavel, Jyothi, Naresh, Salaman, tiger, parrot, pen, pencil, Delhi,
Verb- an action
Examples of verbs = walk, talk, meet, eat, run, sit…
Pronoun- a word which is used instead of a noun
Examples of pronouns = I, we, you, they, he, she, it
Adjective- a word which describes the noun
Small, big, tall, long, colorful, bright
Adverb – a word which describes the verb
Examples of adverb = actively, silently, slowly, kindly.
Prepositions-words that describe where and when or a connection between nouns and other parts of speech
Examples of prepositions = on, up, down, in, of……
Conjunction- words which continues a sentence/a connection between two words or two sentences
Examples of conjunctions = but, because, and, or, either…..
Interjections- exclaiming words/words that creates feel.
Examples of interjections = ah, uh, ups, ouch……..
